Anticipated User Questions
These FAQs demonstrate how the system will address common concerns and questions from users.
What types of incidents should I report?
Report any incident where a METCO student experienced racism, discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment based on their race, including: verbal harassment, physical harassment, racial slurs, microaggressions, social exclusion, bullying, or unfair treatment by staff or students.
Will my identity be kept confidential?
Yes. Your information will only be shared with those who need to know in order to address the incident. You can also submit anonymously if you prefer. However, providing contact information helps us follow up with you and provide better support.
How long does it take to investigate a report?
We review all reports within 24-48 hours. The investigation timeline varies depending on the severity and complexity of the incident, but we typically provide updates within 5-7 business days and work toward resolution within 2-4 weeks.
Can I report an incident that happened in the past?
Yes. While we encourage timely reporting, we understand that it may take time to feel comfortable coming forward. We will review and address reports of past incidents to the best of our ability and work to prevent future occurrences.
What if I'm not sure if something counts as a racist incident?
If you're unsure, please report it anyway. We'd rather review something that turns out to be less serious than miss an important incident. Our team is trained to assess situations and determine the appropriate response. Your concerns are always valid and deserve attention.
Can I submit a report on behalf of someone else?
Yes. Parents, guardians, family members, and other concerned individuals can submit reports on behalf of METCO students. Please provide as much information as you have about the incident and the affected student.
